Staying Healthy On The Road

Staying healthy can be feel near impossible while working out on the road,especially when faced with a hectic schedule of appointments and client meetings. 

A healthy diet and exercise regime can be hard to maintain without planning, preparation and dedication. But the effort is rewarded as unfortunately, sedentary behaviour, stress, and poor eating habits are linked to obesity and diabetes

Luckily we have done the hard work for you and come up with a few simple tips to help you stay healthy while on the road:

 
  1. Schedule regular breaks to stretch and walk around. Plan to stop every hour and make sure to spend at least 5-10 minutes stretching your legs out before getting back on the road.

  2. When choosing food to eat while out and about, stick to things that don't come in packaging. Think fruit like bananas, mandarins and apples that you can throw in your back and go, or protein balls for something sweet. Other options are cold pressed juices or a healthy sandwich or salad. Put an ice brick into your lunch bag to keep it fresh while you are travelling around.

  3. Stay hydrated by drinking 2 litres of water per day.  Invest in a large 2 litre bottle that you can fill up in the morning and be finished by the end of the day. This way you know how much water you have had and it keeps your mind and skin clear.

  4. If travelling on a plane, use this time to nap. Download some great soothing playlists before you go and bring an eye mask to block out the light. Catch some much needed shut eye and feel refreshed and ready for what is to come when you get off.

  5. Keep a pair of comfortable shoes in your bag and take a 30 minute walk each morning, between appointments or in the evening.Walking can help you maintain a healthy weight and prevent conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes.

  6. Stay mindful of your own stress levels by monitoring your breathing and taking deeper breaths instead of shallow ones. Inhale as you belly expands and exhale release all the air. Do this 5-10 times when feeling tired or overwhelmed.
