Consistency Is Key To Success

Many people think that they can get away with the occasional walk or workout and it will all even itself out over the space of the week. Not necessarily. Although any exercise is better than nothing, the importance of consistency is not to be missed.

If you have SMART goals lined up and you intend to achieve them, consistency might just be the missing ingredient to your souffle recipe that just hasn't quite risen as you had wanted.

So what does being consistent actually mean?

  1. Do what you love, more often.

  2. Do something new frequently.

  3. Challenge yourself when you feel you have reached your peak in a certain exercise, there are always progressions!

  4. Constantly keep track of the days you exercise and the days you don't, is there a pattern? Work around this and make a consistent exercise routine work for you.

  5. Don't give up. This is something we often do subconsciously. "Oh, i'll go to the gym tomorrow, even though it's not the day I normally go". Be honest with yourself, are you really going to go tomorrow? Probably not. Go now!

  6. Take time off when you need it, but always have a date to start your exercise routine up again.

  7. Just keep swimming. As the wise Dory once said, keep swimming! You have got this! Even though it might seem like the last thing you feel like doing, your body will thank you for doing what you can to keep it active and healthy.

Consistency is key to a successful fitness regime and for achieving your goals, no matter what they are. As silly as it may sound our bodies work to rhythms and routine is what they love, let your body feel the best it possibly can by showing up, working out and smiling for your achievement.
